I found out yesterday that my Girlfriend drove a Maserati Quattroporte about a year ago in Houston Texas. I was left speechleess that she, not at all a car enthusiast (Though she is getting a lot of knowledge) got the chance to drive an Italian Thouroughbred and Charisma filled Super Sedan with a mesmerizing sounding Ferrari Derived V8 engine.
This is how the conversation went, and how I made this surprising discovery.
I was talking about going to another city this summer with my family where my sister was going to collage. I told my Girlfriend that we were offered a house by a Cousin that lives there, but my father feels a little nervous of going to his house. He fears of breaking something of my uncle, and just wouldnt feel comfortable. She tells me this:
"I actually did that when we went to my mothers' girl friends' house in Houston"
Me: "Really? What did you break?
She: "I got a plate out, those plates from a part of the world since she has gone to prety much everywhere, and when I was washing it it fell off and broke. My mothers friend saw it.."
Me: "I would be a bit embarrased if that happened, what did she told you?"
She: "Oh that there was no problem really. It wasnt special or anything."
Me: "Imagine if it was of the heritage of the family or something. I couldnt bare the shame of telling her."
She: "Why would a family have a plate as a symbol?"
Me: "I dont know!"
She: "I did get to drive when I was in Houston. When we both went to HEB (Supermarket) for butter, she told me to drive around the parking lot whilst she got the things. She had a very nice car."
Me: "What type?"
She: "I dont remember. It had 4 doors, and was blue. It had a sort of crown in the steering wheel, and the screen of the navigation was very cool".
At this point, I was thinking an old Mercedes, or a Chrysler. She had told me before that she was a very wealthy accountant, and that she went aorund the world and lived in a beautiful house. Then, I said this just to laugh at the circumstance:
Me: "Wasnt it a Maserati?"
She: "Yes! That was it. It was a nice blue"
Me: 0.0!
"Seriously, was it a Maserati?! And how long did you drive it? How did it sound?! Was it fast or notchy?"
She: "I just drove it in the parking lot. It was nice."
Me: "You are kidding, I adore that car! Malu (Her name), you seriously have no idea how much I want to drive one!"
She: "I drove a Maserati, I drove a Maserati, I drove a Maserati" (She just started rubbing it in by this point)
"I drove it before YOU!"
Me: "Ah! I want to! If I was in your place I would be so eager, even if I was only in driving in the parking lot, I..."
She: "Look, Cupcake Wars is on!"
Me: "Ok"
I was left stunned. Now, she isnt the petrolhead to know if it was the fourth generation before the refresh, or a 2009-2012 after the refresh. Nor if it was the GTS. The only thing I know is that she drove a RWD, Ferrari V8 Powered, 400+HP, 4 Nappa Leather Seater, Gorgeous Sounding, Armani Suit Wearing, Cologne Smelling, Italian Accenting, Soul Filled Maserati Quattroporte! Oh, and that it was Blue.

There was some plate at my grandmas that was some family symbol. It hung on the wall and had a bunch of Italian on it. I was always tempted to eat off it.

She had no clue what a Maserati was. And yes, she is too cool even for me. Haha, she loves cupcake wars, and the show was about maing cupcakes for the LA Autoshow. She recorded it so we could watch it together.

Just the fact that it was made in the Ferrari Factory. The air conditioning must spray some kind of spices that make the engines have that delightfull sound. It also comes into the nose of the workers, so all of them have an amazing italian accent.

I think I've read a couple of different articles about flat crank designs, etc. trying to understand how they make them sound so wonderful.
Your explanation is clearly better. :-)

If they bought a Toyota they would be staggered at why it has worked for 2 months in a row!
